Arsenal Youth preview – U23s host Manchester City

Arsenal U23s will be seeking to bounce back from two consecutive defeats when they host their Manchester City counterparts at Emirates Stadium tonight.

After some encouraging performances earlier in the campaign, matters have taken a turn for the worse of late, with the departure of Robbie Burton to Dinamo Zagreb not helping matters.

City have also been inconsistent this season and go into this game in ninth place in the table, with Arsenal in sixth.

Dutch winger Jayden Braaf, who has eight goals in 15 Premier League 2 appearances this campaign, is one of the main City threats to be wary of.

From Arsenal’s perspective, Trae Coyle was impressive in the recent defeat to Chelsea and the winger will be determined to follow that up with another fine display.

Folarin Balogun will also be aiming to get on the scoresheet again and goalkeeper Karl Hein will be aiming for a considerably better performance than the one that he produced against Chelsea.

Regarding first-team players that could possibly be involved, Reiss Nelson is in need of minutes having not played at any level since January 11th, while defenders Rob Holding and Pablo Mari are others that could possibly feature.

Wonder if Maitland Niles and Guendouzi will also feature. Now that we’re out of Europe it seems like they could use some minutes. Leroy Sane is penciled in for this game so says Guardiola in his press conference today.
