Arsenal youth preview – U23s take on Chelsea

Arsenal U23s are back in action tomorrow night when they host Chelsea in what should be an entertaining encounter.

Provided that the game goes ahead given the current weather conditions, it is likely that this could be a high scoring affair, with last season’s corresponding fixture having ended in a 5-4 victory for Chelsea.

Arsenal are still without left-back Tolaji Bola, who is suspended, but Steve Bould has the vast majority of his squad available.

Robbie Burton missed the defeat to Liverpool but the captain is set to return to the side for this game and he could have an important part to play given his ability to play slick passes with regularity.

With Joseph Olowu having joined Cork City on loan for the rest of the season it is likely that there will be chances for others in defence, with Tobi Omole, who can play at centre-back or left-back, a candidate to start.

Arsenal, who are currently in fifth place in the table, know that they will face a tough test against a perpetually-strong Chelsea academy setup.

The young Gunners are currently seven points adrift of Chelsea, who can go top of the table with a victory tomorrow.
