Arsenal have confirmed the first team will play two pre-season fixtures in the United States this July.
Participating in the FC Series ‘Clash of Nations’ tour, we’ll face MLS outfit Orlando City at their Exploria Stadium on 20 July before taking on Chelsea at the Camping World Stadium three days later.
Facing the Blues in pre-season has become something of an unwanted tradition in recent years – this will be the fifth clash in seven years, stretching back to the penalty shootout win in the Community Shield in 2015.
The Gunners were due to play Stateside last summer before Covid-19 cases in the camp forced the last-minute postponement of matches with Everton and Colombia’s Millonarios.
We expect Arsenal will confirm at least another four friendlies in the coming months with low-key, domestic affairs likely to kick things off. Having not taken place since 2019, we wonder if the Emirates Cup will make a comeback.
How about a decent striker.
Or shall we just leave that to Manchester City?

Joining a team who are top of the league consistently and can afford to pay you a whole teams salary as your yearly salary, who your dad also used to play for VS joining a team with inconsistent youth players who may or may not start pulling off results, with one player you play with 4 times a year, and who finished 8th for two seasons in a row…. Excuses, excuses, excuses.
I’m sick of excuses too. Why can’t we sign Messi, Ronaldo and Halaand and then do a quadruple? Anything less is failure.
Regardless of our feelings regarding the relevance of these tournaments, the opportunity presents itself to nobble a crucial cog in the Chelsea engine room in a meaningless pre season friendly. I’m really not bitter, honestly. Nor do I bear grudges. Honest.
Well I guess that Loftus Cheek will look forward to reacquainting himself with the ankles of Thomas Partey…
Not this again…
Lose to Chelsea tonight and that should become the club motto.
Would be good if we’re travelling across the world to play a team that we don’t already play 2+ times a season
They play the local MLS side also. There’s another US game on the cards – opposition TBD.
Okay so I’ll need tickets then.
Orlando, Florida in July. Beats Qatar, I guess.
I’ll be there – already pricing hotels. Should be great. A full squad tour with no World Cup recovery and the season just two weeks later.
Great, if you like playing in the fetid swamp that is Orlando in July!
