Confirmed: Alex Runarsson joins Alanyaspor on loan

Well, that was quick.

Hours after news broke of a potential move, Arsenal have confirmed that goalkeeper Alex Runarsson will spend the 2022/23 campaign on loan with Turkish Super Lig side Alanyaspor.

The Iceland international, 27, departs in search of game time having been told he’s surplus to requirements by Mikel Arteta who has Aaron Ramsdale, Matt Turner and Karl Hein as his three first team stoppers.

Runarsson spent last season in Belgium with Jupiler League outfit OH Leuven and made 20 appearances.

Speaking to the Alanyaspor website, Runarrson said: “I am very happy to be here. We have been in contact for a long time.

“From the moment I stepped inside the club, there was an incredibly warm welcome. I can’t wait to meet my teammates. I hope I will be useful for Alanyaspor.”

Best of luck to Alex in Turkey.

Good luck to the lad!

ALAN!!! … ALANyaspor

BergkampsDNA

It was either them or Danabahce. DAN! DAN! DAN!

Ozzie

He’s a really humble lad judging by his quotes and I felt for him being humiliated in that man city cup game, but honestly, does this need to be a loan? Can’t we just give him away?

Gunnerjoe

Best wishes

YaGunnersYa

Indeed. While he didn’t quite cut the mustard at Dijon or fire in all cylinders for the Gunners, here’s to hoping he can delight the Turkish fans.

Eric Blair

Beautiful part of the world, the Turkish riviera. He’ll enjoy the 13th century Seljuk castle no doubt, not to mention various Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman constructions.

Nearby Side has the 2nd longest beach in the Mediterranean and Antalyan cuisine is second to none, where he’ll feast on Arap Kadayıf and an endless supply of delicious fresh fish.

İyi şanslar, Alex! We will see each other same time next year.

This comment makes me wanna be transferred to Alanyaspor

Teryima Adi

Yeah. Mouth watering city/club. Makes for one’s culinary delight.😄😄😄

Scwibble

That sounds like a dream tbf

….damn do you work for their “selling the dream to new players” team cause I wanna move there now!

Chuck Felsea

In case he really works there, then he forgot to sell the footballing perks of the move. Alex looks like he’s thinking “Damn, how did I ever end up here.”

Anyway, thanks to the club for getting him off our books. For Alex I hope he can be their number one and enjoys his life and also success there. Maybe it is a more realistic club for his kind of skills, no blame though. It was not his fault that he was offered a contract by us. I would join too, if they offered me one.

Turkish Delight.

Toure Motors

Judging on the video, he looks a bit non delighted.

Must be the long flight from London

Mkh

Good luck to him.
Elsewhere, Nuno is blossoming at Marseille! Thanks to them for developing our lads.

Tavares at left back, with Zinchenko in that hybrid LCM covering when needed. Interchanging as Tavares likes to take the initiative cutting inside onto his right foot. It could really work, so long as he learns the defensive side, and gets more consistent with his passing etc

I don’t see him really as a winger, I don’t think his close ball control and maybe speed of thought is up to it. But he can be a really dangerous and useful player starting from deeper, so long as his defensive and technical basics reach an ok level

Heavenly Chapecoense

Liverpool is happy with Trent Alexander-Arnold. An improved Tavares will be just like him.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Well done mate. That’s my morning coffee laughed all over my keyboard.

A Different George

An improved Eric Dier could be just like Virgil Van Dijk. It just depends on how much improvement you need.

Mesut Ö’Neill

The boy can take a mean throw in based on this compilation.

I kid, nice goal from the young fella. Electric performance even 👍🏼

In another note, Liverpool couldn’t beat Palace at home. We thrashed them a few days ago. Happy days.

Arsepedant

And Darwin Award Nunez is going to sit out the next three matches, too. What a great weekend!

Cooked Patino

Nice play from the lad. Could easily have gotten 2 assists if OM had better strikers.
Think he’s having the kind of performance he had last season that made many doubt whether KT would get the LB position back.
I hope he figured out how to say a final goodbye to the poor performances.

Chuck Felsea

Balogun scored again as well by converting a penalty. It all went downhill then, though, after a red card for a teammate his team still lost.

Arsemouth

He looks really excited.

Fezec

Reading the comments here has been a revelation. What is happening at this club?

Positivity, great vibe, funny as fuck. What a great time to be a gooner!

Just another 36 wins and we can keep this up til the end of the season!

ClockEnder

Hector, AMN, Pepe… Done?

Teryima Adi

All the best, Runarsson

James O

Doesn’t look happy
