Report: Marquinhos set for Nantes move

According to reports in France, Marquinhos is set to join Nantes.

The 20 year old winger will apparently join the Ligue 1 outfit on loan for duration of the 2023-24 season.

Since his arrival from Sao Paolo the Brazilan made 6 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners, scoring one goal and providing one assist. He spent the second half of last season at Norwich in the Championship, also adding a goal and an assist to his tally as the Canaries failed to make the play-offs.

Another spell in a new league will hopefully be a good year of development for him.

Meanwhile, Ainsley Maitland-Niles has joined Lyon on a four year deal. His contract with Arsenal expired in the summer, and he’ll link up with former teammate Alexandre Lacazette in France.

Perhaps they can have high tea together.

Excellent move.
Go tear up Ligue1!

Berlingoon

Happy for Ainsley. Good move I think.

Heavenly Chapecoense

Me too, I am very happy for AMN. Plus, big bro and Lyon’s best player Lacazette will help him integrate the team.

Funsho Patrick

That’s a retirement move…he wasn’t easy to manage and should still be playing at a bigger club with his talent and versatility… overestimated his capabilities…

Pigaroulettes

Weirdly enough, Nantes players are also called “the canaries”.

yes

cool nickname until they all die of carbon monoxide poisoning away at Lens

Teryima Adi

They are going to tweet a lot.😄

Tomaury Bischfeld

Re the video, what’s ‘cringeworthy’ in French? AMN not winning Oscars anytime soon. Good move for Marquinhos I think, hope he does well and returns or sold for a big fat fee.

Man Manny

I am happy for Ainsley. I wish him all the best in Ligue Un.
I hope they make him their penalty taker. Cool as cucumber with a dubious smile on his face. I love it.

Stonks

Marquinhos Is living the life I would say. Travelling around the world and playing football, I’m a bit jealous

El Mintero

Gotta feeling this kid is not going to make it at Arsenal. Another Tavares…lakonga…Pepe, Balogun, Cedric etc et. situation…loan until contract expires or someone else wants them. Not great for either player or club.

Baz

Yup. Everybody wants to go to Norwich as a holiday destination.

Nico

After the pedestrianisation of the city center is actually a cracking destination!

Joke aside Norfolk is very beautiful

Giuseppe Hovno

If you don’t mind flat farmland as far as the eye can see

Ebo

He’ll have some macaronhos with his tea thank you.

I don’t trust French tea though. Don’t trust any nation that’s that good at making wine to make good tea, if even your cheap wine tastes that good why the hell would you need tea.

LGfromNYC

Acting isn’t for everyone.

Thierry Bergkamp (non negotiable)

Has anybody here heard anything about the new release date for the 3rd kit?

Give me a yellow breaking news on sky sports news, over these stupid new signing videos, any day

Best of luck in Ligue 1, Ainsley!

Dr. Gooner

Not sure what the ceiling is for Marquinhos. We felt strongly enough about him to snatch him away from Wolves when he was about to sign for them at the eleventh hour. He doesn’t have any exceptional traits as far as I can tell (which is not far). What he has is a solid foundation in several areas: he can carry the ball, he can beat his man off the dribble and he can strike the ball well. He could develop into a well rounded wing player but at this point he projects more to a second or third tier… Read more »

Best of luck to AMN!!!

Collibosher

So… what do they put in the tea to make it “high”?

Odinelli

I can actually see him playing well in midfield in Ligue Un. Premier League pace was a little too frantic. I’m sure he will become an important part of Lyon.

Plenty of assists for Laca please!
