Beth Mead back in squad for Arsenal against Aston Villa

Beth Mead is in the Arsenal match day squad for the first time since November following her ACL injury last November. The Gunners look to be sticking with their three centre half formation for the visit of Aston Villa.

Manu Zinsberger returns in goal with Amanda Ilestedt, Lotte Wubben-Moy and Steph Catley at centre-half, it looks like a box midfield with Lia Walti and Kim Little at the base with Frida Maanum as the right 10 and Caitlin Foord as the left 10 with Russo upfront.

Noelle Maritz and Katie McCabe will operate as wing-backs. Lina Hurtig is not in the match day squad.

Update: Having looked at the warm up, this looks more like a 4231 with Katie McCabe on the right wing.

1.Zinsberger; 16.Maritz, 28.Ilestedt, 3.Wubben-Moy, 7.Catley; 13.Walti, 10.Little(c), 15.McCabe; 12.Maanum, 19.Foord; 23.Russo.

Subs: 5.Beattie, 9.Mead, 14.D’Angelo, 21.Pelova, 22.Kuhl, 24.Lacasse, 25.Blackstenius, 27.Codina, 32.Cooney-Cross.

He’s got no hair but we don’t care...

I’m at the game and something is very wrong with this team.
Giving the manager a new contract when there’s clearly a deep rooted problem is a gigantic mistake.

Atkinson

Whoever made that decision of a new contract for the manager at this time is seriously incompetent.

Gary

Looks like I’ll temporary switch my support to the serious Manchester city women’s side until we could terminate Jonas Eidevall’s contract, and get him sacked. How can any good manager keep on doing the same thing that does not work out for him, and also keep on expecting a different result? For fucck sake, we got some younger hungry midfielders, but the 🤡 manager will forever stick with the tiring and aging midfielders in the team while expecting some imaginary magic to happen. Even Ancellotti of Real Madrid’s men team does no longer stick with his most experienced midfielders; Modric… Read more »

I don’t understand why Little and Walti are suddenly the villains, 4 games into the season. They have been immense the last couple of years. The real problems lie elsewhere.

Badaab

The players didn’t suddenly become bad. The tactics however…

Gary

You sound really dumb.

4 games into the new season, and you think you could easily catch up with the teams with a more serious minded managers?

No champions league football for the team, and your aim is finishing top 3?
Y’all that never sees anything wrong with the 🤡 manager and the team’s poor performances are just the enemies of the club obviously.

dontthinkshoot

Not sure where this fantasy that I’m happy with 3rd place/ I think we can easily catch the top team etc has come from. I simply said that Walti/ Little aren’t the real issue here.
And you are an “enemy of my team” as you put it, because you’re a bloody Man City fan!

dontthinkshoot

And if you want to go support Man City, good riddance to ya!

Badaab

Looking like we’ll be after a new manager shortly

Ray's ice cream Parlour

oh yee of little faith….

This team didn’t give up – great result

Back with an assist

We simply need to start games how we ended that one!
Then all we need to do is learn how to defend. Out of 4 goals against, 2 were gifts and the other 2 were opposition players totally unmarked in the box.

I’ve seen that replay of their goal so many times & I still can’t tell who was suppose to be marking Pacheco! I think it was suppose to be Steph but she ended up tangling with Patten after she tripped into Stephs path. 100% have to play better then that though, thankfully you’d think Bristol City next week should be a case of “How many” but even a big win is only papering the cracks cause virtually everybody knew Bristol would probably spend all of the season bottom before it had even started

Bill Hall

So glad they won!
Now they can kick on

Bill Hall

Wow all this Jonas hate when he has done no worse than Mikel did in his first season. Actually better than!

Gary

Lool
What a shitty comparison this is.

Mikel Arteta was barely managing a depleted squad, and even won an FA cup in the process, whereas, Jonas Eidevall has always had a better squad, but man is just too clueless to manage this brilliant side.

Any good manager would undoubtedly do wonders with this Arsenal women side.
