According to the Independent, Sven Mislintat and Huss Fahmy are set to be given more power at the Emirates.
The German, who is currently head of recruitment following his move from Borussia Dortmund last December, will become technical director, while Fahmy, who was recruited to oversee contract negotiations, is set to fill Raul Sanllehi’s former position as head of football operations.
Speaking in the last few days, managing director Vinai Venkatesham hinted that internal appointments had been made to fill the gaps left when he and Sanllehi, now head of football, took over their new roles in the aftermath of Ivan Gazidis’ departure for AC Milan.
The promotions for Mislintat and Fahmy come as a reward for their work over the last 12 months. The German has earned plaudits for his recruitment policy since January, helping to lure Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Sokratis, Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi and Bernd Leno to the club.
In addition to working on negotiations of the above players, Fahmy, who previously worked for cycling’s Team Sky, has also had his work cut out trying to tie down existing squad members to new deals.
For the most part, he’s been successful, although the belated decision to call off talks with Aaron Ramsey does look like something of a blot on his record. Whether that was down to him or a collective decision is unknown.

All these different fancy job titles, to think Arsene Wenger was almost single handedly doing the work of several men, it’s actually quite impressive when you look back on it. Even in his darkest season, he still got us to 6th and gave us yet another European qualification campaign to look forward to. Yes Gazidis was there since 2008, but it seems he was always hiding in the shadows until the latter couple of years of his time at the club.
It’s not quite like that (though he was effectively acting the role of 2-3 men). As the commercial and technical side of football expands, so too did new roles. Earlier into Wenger’s career (and even after the emirates move), doing a deal would still be as simple as the manager (Wenger) dealing with the agent and player and that’s that. I’d disagree with that, we don’t really know for sure what happened there I don’t see anyone really talking about Fahmy messing this up.

Bit disappointed blogs didn’t ask Ornstein for his take on the Ramsey contract situation, was a great opportunity when the chat moved to who does what on the contract front. Still think there’s more to that story than has currently been told…

Also I taught Ramsey had agreed to the contract, so it sounded like he was doing his part.
Ramsey hadn’t agreed to the contract, his agent was busy stringing us along while he touted Ramsey to everyone else. It was a good move to stop the negotiations, but we need to move Ramsey in January for whatever we can get.
So you call Ramsey a liar. He said he didn’t know why the contract was taken off the table when he was prepared to sign it
Maybe his agent fucked up or advised him poorly. Perhaps they were caught by surprise by arsenal sticking to their guns and withdrawing an offer at a predefined point, thus showing strength ahead of future negotiations with others… Could have been just bad luck that Ramsay got his fingers burnt by the new regime… Or maybe somebody at the club decided he didn’t have enough Instagram followers to represent value for money…

You know if a deal is agreed, it really doesn’t take that long to sign it. What exactly was he waiting for and when was he supposedly gonna sign it?
That’s what you say when you hold out signing a contract waiting to see if something better comes along then the contract proposed is pulled. ‘But wait guys I was meaning to sign that’ ‘Too late we changed our minds’.
The decision to call off talks with Ramsey is a huge positive as far as I’m concerned.
I’d like Rambo to stay, but I like the message it sends to anyone thinking about running their contract down and leaving on a free.
I’d have also liked a new deal for Welbeck, but if there was no plans to offer him before his injury? Then I hope we just run his deal down.
I see the cancellation of the offer to Ramsey as a plus. Ramsey hasn’t done much aside from a few decent matches over a really long stretch of time. He’s asking for world cup winner wages when he’s accomplished nothing. We could get two players in who would be much more help for that money.

All of these behind-the-scenes movements are very nice, but unless we get some financial backing from the owner we’re not going to make much more progress. We need money to rebuild our defence. We need to sign at least three defenders.

Then we may need to invest in a LB. And a cb at a push.
So numerically 1.5 defenders is half of his claim, also the team have done well at finding bargains so far, so I don’t see a need for crazy money.
Saying we will never win without spending 200m or whatever is ridiculous, not every club can be ‘that team’ and arsenal have made a name about of being the team that has the players of a big spender without spending.

Looking with my business head on. I think (and hope) that this is all quite positive.
We’ve got some talented guys on board who have just been promoted and looking to make their mark.

Ramsay has very cleverly spun the situation to put himself in a better light, he could have signed that deal any time in the months it was being offered.
If it was agreed and needing a signature then he’d have signed it
They’ve been negotiating forever, I’m baffled people still think he would have signed after being strung along for so long. Meanwhile he kept his head down and played the PR game cleverly.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Sokratis, Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi and Bernd Leno is an impressive list of recruits. Keep that quality up and we’ll be a lot stronger.
Sell Ramsey and El Neny and bring Cesc, Mata on free. We will dominate like Barca did.
Imagine a team of Ozil, Cesc, Mata, Mkhitaryan, Laca, Auba and Xhaka.
Meanwhile we should encourage guys like Maitland Niles and Guendouzi to take over when Ozil and Co leave in few years.
If we want to win CL this is the way to go. Also, it makes business sense.
We can bring in a player thats better for the contract I’m sure he was after, and with a much bigger commercial base potential.
