Report: Young winger to secure deal after impressing on trial

According to Goal.com, Arsenal are ready to offer a contract to Norwegian free agent George Lewis after the 19-year-old impressed on trial back in March.

Charles Watts reports that the Rwandan-born winger has been kicking around in Norway’s lower divisions before a brief spell at Ipswich Town brought him to the UK.

It’s unclear where we spotted him and how long we’ve been tracking his progress but he must have done well at London Colney to impress Mikel Arteta’s coaching team.

If a deal is completed, it’s said that Lewis will join up with the under-23s rather than the first team.

Whoever our scouts are in Scandinavia, they’re obviously keeping themselves busy.

Another youngster, Ismet Lushaku, who plays for Swedish side AFC Eskilstuna has revealed he was due to undertake a trial with the under-23s before Mikel Arteta’s coronavirus diagnosis saw the club go into lockdown.

“It was a little tough [for it to be cancelled], but it was still good [having the invite],” the 19-year-old Kosovan midfielder told fotbollskanalen.com.

“Health comes first, even though I’d really wanted to see how a club like Arsenal trains. It was a bit sour that it didn’t happen but my chance will come again if they are really interested.”

It remains clear when the next transfer window will open. In the short-term, Arsenal’s main priority is sorting short-term contract extensions for all the players on loan, both at the Emirates and further afield.

Deals to keep Cedric Soares and Pablo Mari shouldn’t be too complicated, especially with us expected to sign them permanently and Dani Ceballos seems happy enough to play out the rest of the Premier League season.

With Ligue 1 cancelled, William Saliba will be able to train with Arsenal from 30 June although he won’t be eligible for any matches until next season.

Konstantinos Mavropanos, who joined Nurnberg in January, says he’s excited about the Bundesliga season restarting, Besiktas are keen on keeping Mohamed Elneny for another year and Henrikh Mkhitaryan is enjoying his life in Rome.

Emile Smith Rowe (Huddersfield), Deyan Iliev (Jagiellonia Bialystok), Jordi Osei-Tutu (Bochum), Joseph Olowu (Cork City), Ben Sheaf (Doncaster Rovers), James Olayinka (Northampton Town) and Tyreece John-Jules (Lincoln City) are the other players out on loan.

Our resident youth expert, Jeorge Bird, runs the rule over the progress and future of the youngsters, here.

He will be one of only 3 Norwegians to have
played for Arsenal.. Håvard Nordtveit and

On the blog article about Ian and Mikels call, Mikel will respect the industry of any player he tries to sign, but his Person interacting with you and showing you where he wants to go would be the only conviction they need. It’s a tremendous Value proposition, it’s like receiving God unto your life. Ambitious people are already sure of what they want and Mikel is borderline cocky in his self confidence. How can he be convincing you to join Arsenal ? Tbs he will completely respect your Industry and investment in your self , but he don’t have to… Read more »

Good luck to him.

Gossip says swap deal p.e.a. for the younger icardi from inter Milan , would you go for it ?

Naked Cygan

I think we would all love to keep Abu as a first choice, but if he won’t sign a new contract then our best choice would be to sell or do a swap, but not with an English team. Icardi is a great player, not sure if he suits our style of play, but if we can swap him with abu and give him a 3-4 year contract we can always sell him and get something down the road.

Riku

What style of play do we have ?
Not Wenger ball or Emery ball. Arteta ball is not established yet , is gonna be like pep ball . Playing out from the back and as a finisher like p.e a. ,Mr. Icardi would fit in to any team , like he would fit in at city.

Vonnie

No, it would be a bad deal, if we can’t keep Auba, and I hope we can, we can manage with Laca and the youngsters coming through. We have Martinelli and Eddie who are already in the first team and John Jules and Balogan coming through. If we really have to sell Auba I’d rather we got as much cash as possible and spent it on someone like Partey.

Dang, I was really hoping the player’s name was Young Winger.
