Barcelona are prepared to drag out negotiations with Arsenal over the possible signing of Cesc Fabregas, according to Camp Nou vice-president Josep Bartomeu.
Making clear that the reigning La Liga champions will use the full extent of the allotted transfer window, even if that means going to the August 31st deadline, Bartomeu is quoted by Sky Sports stating:
“The experience of the last few years and of last season shows us that we have right up until the last minute before the season starts.
“We made signings very late last season. We have the best team in the world so we can afford to be patient.
“There is no rush, we have until the last moment.”
So far this summer Barcelona are understood to have lodged a formal £27 million bid for the Spanish playmaker; an approach which has been dismissed out of hand by the Arsenal board.
While the Gunners await the next move from La Blaugrana, Fabregas has returned to training at London Colney and is tipped to make Arsene Wenger’s squad for the forthcoming tour of the Far East.

Arsenal need to make a statement publicly stating we do not want to sell Cesc Fabregas, however if Barca are serious about signing him they need to make an offer in excess of £50million and that we will not consider any figure below that.
