Report: Arsenal 0-2 Schalke

Arsenal lost their long unbeaten Champions League home record against Schalke at the Emirates tonight.

Arsene Wenger reverted to a formation which had served well earlier in the season, bringing in Francis Coquelin for Olivier Giroud, deploying Gervinho down the middle and Aaron Ramsey on the right hand side of the attacking trio.

The Ivorian really didn’t do much in the first half to suggest he was the man to play down the middle. His passing was off, when Arsenal came forward it broke down with him often and when he was put clear in the 24th minute by Cazorla, he cut back inside rather than shoot with his left foot, allowing Schalke to clear.

Previously, the Germans had a penalty claim, which wasn’t a penalty but you’ve often seen them given. Arteta lost the ball in midfield, Schalke came forward but we got a touch on the edge of the box. Jenkinson shepherded the ball back to Mannone who just needed to pick it up but delayed, allowed Affelay to run on to it and as he dived the Dutchman did likewise, earning himself a yellow card in the process.

However, the indecisive goalkeeping could have proved costly because at first glance it looked a spot kick.

The away side grew in confidence, finding much space down our left which, according to football’s most stupid pundit, Tony Gale, was all the fault of Andre Santos, ignoring the fact the Brazilian was left with two men to deal with (sometimes three) time and again. He didn’t play very well but he needed help.

Mertesacker made a series of blocks, one crucial one when Farfan stepped inside Vermaelen and shot from inside the box, and they should have scored late in the half when another move down the left created a good opening for Huntelaar, but he contrived to put his shot wide from 7 yards.

Early in the second half Arsenal almost found a way through when a move down the left fell to Coquelin in the box, but his pull back was cut out. Sadly it wasn’t a sign of things to come as Schalke found it easy going on.

A poor challenge from Santos allowed Farfan the chance to pull back for some bloke to smash over from 12 yards when he should have scored.

Gervinho’s best moment of the night came in the 69th minute when he worked space down the left and got a good cross in, but with only one Arsenal man in the box it was easily defended.

His worst moment – and there were some, let me tell you – came a few moments later when he got past Jones in the box, overran it and took a dive for which he was rightly booked.

We never looked like scoring and their goal, when it came had a whiff on inevitability about it. Head tennis outside the area saw it nodded towards our goal, Santos played Huntelaar onside as he came back towards the ball but Vermaelen wasn’t even looking at what should have been his man. The Dutchman turned and fired past Mannone to make it 1-0.

The Germans killed the game in the 86th minute. Substitute Serge Gnabry gave the ball away in midfield, again Vermaelen was found wanting by not covering the man on the ball, allowing him to play it outside Santos and the cross found Affelay at the back post to make it 2-0.

Update: having seen a replay Vermaelen was in a difficult position with Mertesacker pushed upfield a simple ball would have seen the striker through. It was a goal that came because we were looking for an equaliser but poor defending all around.

That Arsenal’s only shot on target came in the 93rd minute, from Gnabry (the 17 year old) tells you all you need to know about Arsenal’s attacking performance, and defensively we were shambolic.

Just like Norwich we deserved everything we got from that game. Which was nothing.

That was terrible.

goonerforlife

Santos out, I give up, as a full back he’s a joke. Need a LB in January, end of story.

Heh

Santos was just way too exposed most of the time tonight, his decision making also seems flawed at times anyway Gibbs should be back shortly…. Amen to that!….and sagna..and wilshere….and schezzers….and walcott. We should carry on from where we left of at westham when all these players get back. Please arsenal, please!

GunnerDoYou

Although he did play some silly reckless balls, Santos is just the convenient scapegoat. There was no one there in support , no one made themselves available for him to pass to. Our movement was poor. And I’m pretty sure it was Jenkinson not Santos who failed to step up for their first goal.

Eric Irish gunner

How he was not taken off at half time is beyond belief he kept them onside for first goal same against Norwich, we take off the best crosser of the ball in jenks after we bring on our target man that’s a fucking joke, 2 shots on target now in the last 2 games is worrying, we need to sort this out before we visit the man scum or we could get another hiding

nishanth

Wenger’s tactics were so pathetic today. We have Ramsey who again had a shocker while Arshavin sat on the bench. And with us needing a goal badly and with giroud already on he takes one of our best crosser off in Jenkinson, takes a striker podolski off and keeps Ramsey on. Fucking ridiculous

AGunner

if we win a few games we’re happy again, but its not enough, if we want some silverware, the whole squad needs to contribute when rotated or injured. shudder to think what would happen with no cazorla.. wenger needs to shake things up.

Heh

“Jenkinson is the best crosser of the ball at Arsenal”

Sorry he did nothing of the sort today, I’ll reserve my judgement for later.

Right now i’m counting on a Sagna – Walcott reunion to see how well they can do for us.

LucyGooner

um, nishanth, Wenger was in the stands. It was Bouldy who decided the changes.

nishanth

Lucygooner- Almost the same exact changes were made against norwich. And surely there would have been some kind of communication between those two.

Gooner_Al

What a shit show.

Only silver lining is that we’re still 3 points clear of Olympiakos.

Witoldo

Well, that, and our position is considerably better than City’s. It could be worse–just goes to show that no matter how many 30 million pounds you buy, anything can happen in the CL.

AGunner

agreed. fucking joke. im usually quite optimistic and happy to give our boys the benefit of doubt.. but two shit displays. defense cant concentrate for 90 mins. santos needs to get his shit together, was great last season, wtf happened. cant believe we lost all our momentum over the international break, we’re a massive club, if we cant deal with these breaks then its gonna be a long shitty season. only one silver lining today, Serge Gnabry. yes he lost the ball a few times, but he did more down the right wing than any other player. Jenks – as… Read more »

GunnAV

I agree. Making it hard for us to be optimistic bout games.
I think i read a quote of George Will which said that pessimism’s great in the sense that you’re either being proven right or pleasantly surprised every now and again. Seems like the way to go for any fan at this point of time.

lordgunner

actually 3 the chav match at home where we were outplay for most 90 mn, the away norwich match and this one

AGunner

lol at this point im finding that quote quite optimistic! we’ve just given away too many shit goals recently. goals by huntelaar, holt, torres and lescott have all been easily avoidable, and it puts us in a difficult position once you concede. things need to change and quick before we start losing ground in competitions.

Witoldo

Who exactly was Jenks supposed to cross it to? Gervinho? Cazorla?

Without a big target man in the centre, your tactics have to change.

ARSENAL

YE!

Runcorn Gooner

The man in charge has got to take the blame……..Sorry Steve Bould your boys
didn’t turn up tonight.

JackA

Agreed – I think any of you that see any silver lining from that performance are very optimistic! Tony Gale did talk a lot of shit though – at one point he said he thought Verm and Kos were the best pairing! Absolutely not. Has to be one of them + Per. Anyway, I’m beginning to fear for the season a bit now. Seriously need to buck our ideas up and would like to see Wenger start with young Gnarby next game – shake it up a bit. It looked jaded and lethargic tonight and against Norwich. QPR will be… Read more »

Thorough

That marks the one millionth time when Ramsey starts and we loose….if these idiots dont see a pattern then they never will. Well, let’s just blame Mannone and Santos, ok? And btw, where’s Josh to tell us how over-reactive we are?

Frog

What does loose mean?

Josh

What did Ramsey did wrong this game or the whole season so far? Ramsey’s stats isn’t the best but its definitely not the sole reason why we are not winning matches.
http://www.squawka.com/players/aaron-ramsey

Also, in my opinion, Santos shouldn’t be fully blame because Schalke’s plan was to overload their right wing. I’m sure if it was on our right side, even Sagna or Jenks would have struggle marking 2-3 players.

Good to know you’re still thinking of me, Thorough! 🙂

Witoldo

Their Japanese right full back got up and down the pitch extremely well. Podolski had trouble tracking him all game. On the other hand, Santos’ kamikaze defending led to more than a few dangerous moments. We didn’t look good at all on our left.

payload_56k

The balance Sheet got better and better and the TEAM sheet got worse and worse. I feel sorry for all the fans like me. I don’t know what to say more

Iloveramsey

I dont understand why the fuck ramsey and coq likes to take unnecessary extra touches. Especially ramsey, he cant dribble, he is not fast, and he thinks he is fast. How many times he distrupt the passing flow just for himself trying to get noticed with his extra dribble. He should be on right wing, why the hell he kept coming to left and middle? He distrubed santi’s game. Also how many times he should have done sliding tackle for 80-20 balls, but instead he just jog his grand mother off!? Fuck him i wish he has another leg broken.… Read more »

I hope you are not actually a Gooner, but another horrible troll. If you are a Gooner, and you own a shirt, you should never be allowed to wear it. What a wanker you are.

TeeCee

When it comes to extra touches, it was Mannone scaring the shit out of me. There were waaaay too many times he took a touch or two on a back-pass that really needed to be booted upfield as quickly as possible. At one point he took *two* touches on a nice gentle one while two Schalke players bore down on him.

I was fully expecting their first goal to come from either a charged-down goal clearance or just having one nicked off his feet.

Bucks

Well that was shit…

Ed

Gnabry entered the field of play and had one shot on target, almost created something for mert with great skill on the wing there. His ball was intercepted for the second schalke goal but we were losing anway.

My point. Gnabry>gervinho!

Ramseys back pass

Gnabry> our starting right winger

Gooner

Cazorla all smiles at the end joking around with Affelay

Matt Jarvis' Uncle

At least Vermaelen gave a good scowl when the camera panned to him.

Lapidarij

No, they were arguing about something and then they exchanged shirts.

Wonderful Performance

well atleast he isn’t too beat up about the performance. Probably thinks next week he can do better.I like the ‘mentality’.

Teardrop

I thought i heard affelay , saying something about Barcelona when they were talking it wasn’t quiet talking, anyone else hear it?

TeeCee

Hopefully it was something like; “They’re a right bunch of cunts at Barcelona, you wouldn’t like it.”.

Heh

Lol. Loosing a home record od nine years against schalke of all clubs is just embarrassing!

We have no game plan B. Just knock the ball around and the goals will come!, only the goals went with a certain dutch skunk. Still hopeful for saturday though, a full arsenal squad!

….. . Manno,,,,,,
Sagna,,,,,,mert…..koss/verm…….gibbs

Bucks

Look at what you done Arsenal. This crowd is back D:

goonerforlife

Gnarby’s the next star to come, not that we have so much time to wait…

Sol Goodman

We still can’t defend for shit, any time a dangerous ball comes into our box our defenders act like fucking chiwawa’s in a thunder storm, bould has got lots of work to do still. As cuddle and nice a guy as Santos seems to be, he just not good enough to play against top quality teams.
Vermaelen may not have what it take to lead this team, Arteta is the obvious candidate i think most people would agree.
This team is going to have to improve a hell of a lot to finish in the top 4 this season.

Bucks

Was aimed at Fatgooner

LucyGooner

Schalke’s not a bad team, you know.
Not that I think losing today was justified, we played pretty pathetically. Can’t wait ’till we get our players back from injuries…

Witoldo

Schalke just beat Dortmund in their derby. And this Dortmund side did the double in Germany last year and beat Real Madrid today. Schalke’s a really good team–let’s not pretend they’re shit.

superanderslimpar

Very poor tonight, but credit to Schalke – they played well. Huntelaar & Afellay are both players we could Di with, instead of hailing Grnabry as the answers to (some) of our prayers. I was at the game tonight, & our support is a joke. I tell you something, there certainly was a fire drill when Afellay put that second in. Reckon there were less than 20,000 in when the final whistle blew. An absolute embarrassment. Big game Saturday – QPR will give us a game, & we need to put to stop to this run. Especially with United &… Read more »

too many empty seats at the start too. the home fans need to fix up a bit, and start making some noise. at my last home game we were outsung by coventry. the away boys make some serious noise, i remember being 3 down at old trafford last season and around half time they were still making loads of noise, supporting the team.

at the grove it seems the most noise is reserved for abusing whoever this weeks scapegoat is. come on you gooners, lets hear you sing, we always hear about the crowd being the 12th man!

Fatgooner

Enough is enough! Fuck off Wenger, Gazidis and Kroenke!

Just Gazidis and Kroenke.

You are right, leave our Great Manager in charge, what is 7 or 8 years with no trophy even 10 years you ungrateful people. Do you see Wigan, Stoke, Villa, Everton and Newcastle (didn’t say Brims and Portsmouth as they’ve won something) complaining for not winning something??? Our Great Manager makes profit EVERY year and doesn’t spend his budget to safe the future of the club. If you’re only in it for the trophies, you might as well go and join all the other pathetic glory hunters following Manchester United. We’re all hurting and angry tonight, but don’t cheapen our great club and our passion for it by going on and on about ‘winning trophies’. Supporting a club should be about so much more than that. Perhaps Wenger has all the answers, perhaps he doesn’t, but we will still be there through thick and thin.

Rant over.

aaaaa

yeah who needs trophies! not that it’s the sole purpose of a football club or anything…

Exiledgooner

Yes, the club should. But that’s not the reason a supporter should follow a club.

Rob'67

Yep they looked utterly clueless as they sat there in the stand. The sight of Hill-Wood and Kronke, chatting merrily away to each other as Schalke walked all over us, said it all. AGM tomorrow. Will anyone have the guts to cast caution aside and stand up for our Club as it spirals downwards ? Or will we hear from that tosser Gazedis about how great the balance sheet is ? How we are thriving on “organic growth” and how “we’re the most ambitious Club in the World” ? Oh yes and don’t forget Financial Fair Play and how Real… Read more »

Exiledgooner

Bravo, Sir. I’ve had enough of the ‘we can’t compete’ malarky. We can compete, the senior execs just choose not to. No one is seriously suggesting spending like Manchester City, but there is no reason why the board shouldn’t invest in the club. Bringing up Rangers, Portsmouth or Leeds as arguments against that is totally specious: those clubs fell due to gross incompetence, greed and stupidity. There’s no reason why we couldn’t occupy a middle ground of prudent but effective spending. I’ve admired Wenger for his self-sustaining ideology and while I don’t accept that it’s been a total failure, it… Read more »

Witoldo

We can compete. Look at how awesome Dortmund are playing with a budget smaller than ours. Of course, the fact they play football in a country with a youth system that actually develops good players doesn’t hurt. Reus, Gotze, etc., etc.

It's not Wenger's fault

You do know that it’s the Chairman who dictates policy? Not the chief executive or the manager? They just follow the business model and try to implement it in the best possible way. That’s the job of the CEO/MD in any company. And no 2 ways about it anymore. The Arsenal is now just a company. Arsenal Inc.

vieira

wenger is all that too, lets not think otherwise. he’d get what he wants, board couldnt run the risk of losing him

The Cygan's Return

Hmmm Wenger is the first Manager in history to hire errr his Manager!!!. He is the cause of not spending, they couldn’t tell him no even if they want to. The man HATES spending simple as.

Runcorn Gooner

What the F was that all about?

Heh

Gervinho should have released cazorla and podolski on that counter attack but instead he chose to run himself over to the wing, dilly dally with it thwn when the pressure was starting to heap on him he decided to conduct a diving lesson for busquets, suarez and co!.. I hope they were all watching, that was absolutely top stuff. Fucking arse!

TeeCee

Not helped by bloody SKY continually holding forth on how Gervinho should be playing out wide.
Every time he drifted wide it led to me going: “Cross it, cross it, CROSS IT. GET IT IN THE FUCKING BOX…….IF YOU KEEP IT THERE, YOU”LL LOSE IT…….OH FFS, NOT AGAIN!!!1111!!!!”

The Cygan's Return

Don’t worry, we will flok a 1/0 against QPR and the “happy meal kids” would be back to tell us the wonder of wenger and Stan the Yank. self-sustained and how awful awful that AU fat guy. Oh, fourth is not bad and next Jan/Summer Arsene will change and spend money!!!

superanderslimpar

The Cygans Return is exactly the sort of supporter that the”new” Arsenal of the past few yrs has generated. Fickle, always whining about something or other (mostly the manager) & nothing very constructive to say.
15 consecutive years in the Champions League, not even Barca have done that. Things are far from perfect, but we’ve has a load more ups than downs with Arsenal. If you don’t like it, there’s a lot up the road who deserve your kind of snidey “support”
Man these plastic fans make me mad….

Josh

@superanderslimpar

I agree. Last thing we need is a bunch of “fans” who provides the doom and gloom to every poor performances, predicts every match afterward as a lost cause and only solutions are to either sack the manager or spend £50-60m in each transfer window.

I’m not saying the club is above criticism but can we at least leave the cynicism and fickle thinking aside?

weedwacker

@super anders limpar @josh

Honestly guys you enjoy this shit year after year, game after game. You guys sit down when you are told like some happy clappy morons . Its shit Now guys it has to change to get better

superanderslimpar

There is a difference between what you describe as a “happy clappy moron” & someone who constantly snipes about how shit everthing is.
I suggest that people suggest soemthing more constructive than Ramsay is shit or Wenger has lost it or the Board are wankers. The people on here who write that kind of stuff, they’re the morons.

Bacary's right leg

how many shots on target have we had over the 2 games? 3?

Wonderful Performance

2. 180 minutes of pure pleasure

Wonderful Performance

which cost some poor souls nearly 200 quid in matchday tickets and other stuff

Witoldo

It’s those 180 minutes that I’ll never get back from my life that hurt the most.

goonerforlife

I’m craving for this moment:
Arsenal are down a goal,
great pass to Giroud,

oh my god!
Sensational!!!!
not to blame Giroud, I feel for him, the service to him is rubbish, no actually its nonexistent!

AGunner

rvp wouldnt have scored tonight if we still had him. very shit in the final 3rd, lacking our usual creativity. midfield needs to step up and help cazorla, cant do everything by himself – especially now everyones aware of him. reckon wenger and bould need to stop messing about with formations and inter-changing players between positions.. we just dont have the depth for that kind of play. gerv is a winger, pod should be central or behind giroud and theo/ox/gnabry on the other wing. you cant keep switching them around cus instead of fooling the opposition we end up fooling… Read more »

Its goin to be an interesting AGM tomorrow thats for sure!

Gooner

Cazorla all smiles at the final whistle joking around with Afellay, did not like that one bit.

cescinexile

hey, he has to endure having to “try” and set up gervinho for 90 min. every week.

Runcorn Gooner

Gervinho is tactically hopeless?
When it was 0-0 he ran outside when 2 players were charging up the middle and guess what…….he lost the ball. Now that is unusual not.

Matt Jarvis' Uncle

Another tactical calamity from Wenger. That’s twice in a row now, very unusual.

Jim Jimminy

To be fair it was probably quite difficult to have any bearing on this game considering how he was in the stands and not allowed to communicate with the bench. But no, you’re probably right, Wenger’s fault again.

The Cygan's Return

Picking Ramsey at right wing was his “tactic” as he will always find place for Ramsey even as a goal keeper in our starting 11. He is the new Almunia of midfield and it will take him 4 years to realise he is not up to The Arsenal standarded

Gnabry

Wenger OUT to be our director of football.

We need a new one with fresh ideas!

cescinexile

Was this the second defeat in 2 matches for you mate, and one of them being your debut? No wonder you think that way 🙂

The Cygan's Return

Excuse me? Let me correct you, it is been 8 YEARS.

One shot on target. Not good enough.
Play as a team defend attack as a team.

A. Usmanov

You see! Just sell me your shares I keep telling you. What’s the worst that could happen?

Roman bring the tea!

Voldermort

Sorry but that was woefull again. Not a single shot on target until 94 mins. A few decent displays from the bfg again. The coq had a decent game as did arteta and cazorla. One or two others. But santos is no longer funny, gervinho was just a waste. Our lack of anything up front is going to kill us. Will we ever learn. Oh, and how is that new signing doing, what is his name??? oh yeah Diaby. He said we have enough we don’t need to sign anyone!!!!

arsenal fan

mate, you need to stop attacking AW for the sake of it. I disagree with many things he does. but one of the best things about him is giving a chance to the young players, you don’t turn them into big stars without many bad games in their development. give ramsey time, he’ll come good.

big black clock

I don’t even care. It’s obvious that the players don’t too.

Yea I’m just not gonna give a fuck if we’re gonna be subjected to such abject performances week in week out

Rob'67

No motivation whatsoever.

Would Ferguson tolerate two performances like that from Man U ? We all know the answer.

Witoldo

Ferguson didn’t get out of the group stage last year…

poodles

Do you people still think we don’t need Theo? I think it’s safe to say the Gervinho experiment has failed. We need a good result this weekend, and for our injured players to come back. How long has szcz been out for? Missing Gibbs turned out to be huge in this match, Santos is as much a defender as Gervinho is a cf. Voldermort

Invest the money.? Like the rvp money . For fucks sake, it’s still sitting in the bank. Have we learnt nothing about this board.

Wether we need Walcott or not doesn’t make any odds, the bloke is going if not in January then the end of the season. Just another player to leave and not be replaced.

Its sad to see the arse like this. We’ve slowly got worse and worse through the last few years and its clearly showing. Chris Wreh

Gervinho has looked awful even in games he’s scored in.

Squad player.

xxxrob

Santos had a shocker
Gervinho is quite possibly the most infuriating player I’ve seen in a while, sure he comes up with something every now and then but fuck me, if you put a monkey in a room with a typewriter eventually it will type a word.
This is not good enough, they made us look like shit on our own patch, subs came too late as usual.
End rant

Chris Wreh

Hahahahaha. Is it me or does Gervinho walk around like he’s made it aswell. So annoying when I could easily see him warming West Brom’s bench.

Awful attitude.

xxxrob

He just irritates me. His game very one dimensional. Doesn’t take long for defenders to figure him out and holds the ball too long most times, killing our tempo

Bacary's right leg

no i dont see that no matter how bad he is…. he doesnt stop running.. and does work very hard… he was just woeful tonight… well the hole team was apart from the usual

xxxrob

i think he has his best moments off the bench.
Maybe starting giroud and bringing on gervinhos legs once the defence has had a 60-75 minute battle will benefit the team more.
Worth a try, i dont really think the gervinho centre forward experiment is succeeding though.

GunnAV

I fail to understand why, despite having Giroud, an out and out striker, Wenger insists on playing Gerv as a CF/striker who, more often than not, is running around like a headless chicken. We spent a decent sum of money on the fellow so atleast give him a consistent run at games. Looks like a very interesting player. He definitely isn’t the sorts that you bank on to make things happen having been subbed in with less than 20 minutes of time left for the whistle.
He needs to play more.

Lapidarij

We were playing without all 4 best players from the last season. I won’t name them. Two sold two injured.
We were playing with Mannone, Santos and Ramsey again. They are good for reserves.
We were again slow, impotent and predictable.
But still this result is not that important. More important what we will do in the next 2 weeks. Im afraid, for the good next 2 weeks we ll need lot’s of luck and some changes (if possible).

Jack

The lack of penetration was just mind-blogging. And that too when we had the Coq at the centre.

Jack

*mind-boggling

I miss Rosicky, at least he looks like he is pissed off as we are, when he plays and result is shit…

I like Arteta so damn much but he has no sense of urgency and creativity, that’s where we so badly miss Wilshere. Box to box, can defend can be also very creative!. wil-arteta-cazorla.

austingooner

I think Podolski usually provides us with some options. Can’t put him in the same category as Santos, Ramsey and Gerv, who are all unworthy of starting appearances.

Remember the invincibles. Because we aren't good anymore

there’s no point in talking about Ramsey until he does something good. He’s always shit. It’s the norm from him

Lid

Noooo, Ramsey is our new Fabregas! He played very well, he was one of the best tonight, rember guys he had leg broken! He is a great lad and our future… if something doesnt change and we start filtering untalented out of our club.

Sol Goodman

I’m really worried about our trip to united now, i have a horrible feeling that we could be in for another mauling, and whats worse Van Cunty will have a money grubbing hand in it too.

Rodders1971

I’m seeing ANOTHER ban coming for Wenger for communicating with Steve Bould…those substitutions just had to be his own work not Bouldy’s!
Another shocking performance…& anyone know why the fuck can Podolski not play 90 mins, surely he’s ‘match fit’?
Fucking depressed tonight, but at least Na$ri & his mercenary pals lost as well!

Witoldo

A better question would be why the fuck didn’t Podolski track back and help Santos deal with the overlapping Uchida for the 80-some minutes he was on the pitch.

Bee

that was a boring game, boring performance, boring, boring, boring

the only thing keeping me from giving up is the acknowledgement that man city, real madrid and milan all lost as well

so its not like we are the only bad team and everyone else is great

The fart out of Chamakh's ass

poooooooooooooooooooooooof
poof

Arsene's Nose

Damn! I broke my T.v! Calling our Performance total Shite, wil probably be an insult to Manshitty…Awful Game..90mins of my life I wunt get back..

Sharp

We were shit tonight, played like shit , and got the shitty result that we deserved.
Gervhino was an ass, TV5 needs to be benched, and this team needs to wake up
Here’s to 3 points on sat. COYG

vieira

same old same old arsenal, poor attitude, zero pressing, plenty of average to poor players and a dopey manger that’s more interested in club finances. we may get things on track at some stage but we aint winning anything again this year.

Rohan Sood

Everything went wrong in this match. First, of all we were missing key 1st team players Ox and Walcott plus the injuries that we had to put up with which include our main keeper szczesny. Second, Andre Santos did he forgot the position he was supposed to play in. He used to leave uchida unmarked who crossed the ball with much precision. Third, Mannone is so under pressure that he needs to be replaced soon or arsenal are going to be in a tough spot. He has lost all his confidence and takes goals so easily. Fourth, Wenger was not… Read more »

Disgraceful dive by Gervinho. Born of frustration I’m sure but there’s no room for that at Arsenal.

KidKnockout

I might disliked for this but fuck it. Arsenal without any pace is shit, you can say what you wanna say about Walcott but his speed is needed for Arsenal to play against teams that park the bus. We’re not Man City so why the fuck are we not playing with at least 1 proper striker. I don’t just get why we don’t buy players and play them in their proper positions, why is Gervinho a winger player as a striker, why is Ramsey a CAM playing as a winger when we had Gnarby as a proper winger, why is… Read more »

walcott is gervinho with pace, there both poor

Aamir

This team is not bad, it’s just we have entered a slump and need to WAKE THE FUCK UP. What a waste of two hours that game was. The team has had time to gel but Giroud needs to start. And I can’t wait for Gibbs Szcz and Wilshere. I dont know what the hell is wrong with them.. The defeat to Chelsea was our own making but these are two really crap “performances” in a row. Wenger has to motivate them somehow. Lets see how we respond against QPR and Manure. If we can’t beat QPR, I will be… Read more »

we have a tendency for this ‘slump’ shit. Its time wenger starts kicking ass and stop mollycoddling a bunch of overpaid assholes

arsenal fan

once again, im fucking sick of seeing bullshit articles on Arsenal.com. I didnt get a chance to watch the match but from what I have read. there was no effort, no dedication, we just let them win. this is all after i read at least 2 different Articles about the players wanting to make up for the mistakes and how they are eager to make up for the loss. How about they just go on and try their hardest instead of giving pointless interviews to the clubs website about trying their hardest. none the less. IN ARSENE WE TRUST. not… Read more »

This is why I resort to binge eating. Really stressed out. Wenger should stop playing fantasy football. A friend of mine who NEVER watches football was able to point out Arsenal’s lack of penetration in the final third. Now, that the defence and midfield is a bit bolstered, the forwards are on a holiday(and dreaming of Halo 4 ??). We will still qualify for the next round but for heaven’s sake buy a WORLD CLASS false nine/CF. Can’t blame Gervinho all the time. Giroud might be goal threat someday but we need a world class forward NOW. Speaking of pulling… Read more »

I was always sick of the optimists when it was evident from the beginning of the season that we will struggle. For example I am saying hello to all of them:
Dan, prhyu, victoria-concordia-crescit, Fatcunt, Miguel, goonero, Frog, Bucks, paddymac, gunnersaurus rex, The Erotic Hands of Wenger, … think people before you write something or when you hate people who love our club but they are realistic.

Frog

Not really sure what you’re on about, but seeing as you felt it necessary to say my name, why don’t you just go fuck yourself mate.

Dan

Shut that your mouth, that was then and this is now. We had just won 6-1 was there any room for critisizing?. Barely.

You reason like a child, you child!

CT

This is really worrying. There is no movement off the ball and only Arteta seems to do anything. Santos and Ramsay were pretty terrible again

damien joyce

Szcz, Gibbs, Sagna, Wilshere, Rosicky, Diaby, Walcott, AOC. That is 8 starters we were missing tonight, but this long injury list is never ending, we have had this problem more than any other team in last 4-6 years it is just ridiculous, It would be futile to suggest our multi-million pound medical expenditure is at fault for this, in fact just to see Eduardo, Ramsey, Sagna, Rosicky, RVP (cunt) etc playing again is testament to the good work they do, everyday jobs would see them living the Keith Miller (Eastenders circa 2004ish) life. Doc’s notes for dole office!! For me… Read more »

Strikers

Wenger gave us Anelka, then Henry, then Robin and Ade – all fucking class despite what people now reckon of the latter two (who were pushed for profit I my eyes rather than jumped in my opinion), and the we got Chamakh and Giroud! Hard workers bless em but just shit footballers. What the fuck happened? No-one said the stadium would turn us into the equivalent of a property developer. Buy young and cheap, do up and sell on. Time to buy a Neymar. Or unearth another striking gem Arsene. And FFS sign up Theo! Come on Arsenal.

counter-topside

Everybody just chill the fuck out, it’s not that bad, we’re still gonna qualify from the group, we’ve got important players coming back, let’s just take some deep breaths and relax.

Dial Square

Bollocks, where’s your pride and passion, the same could be said about the 11 jokers tonight….

Ramseys back pass

my highlight of thd game was P-H-W explaining to stan why the substitues don’t have to pay for a seat

Dial Square

Fuck off Arsene, how have we gone from the invincibles, to this utter shite!!!!!!!

goontang

Another game to Ramseys horrible win/ start ratio. One game we’ve one this season where he has started. Completely ruins the midfield.

Someone gave me a stat the other day of percentage of games won in the last 2 year’s where he’s started and weve won. The truth was fucking awful to see.
